Normally we are taking breath without our effort at all. From our birth to our death, we take breath. Many things changes between first breaths at the moment of our birth to the last breathe at the moment of our death. First we were child, and then young then we become old; some times we become sad, sometimes we becomes happy and sometimes we become ill , some time we become healthy – every thing changes in our life except breathing , in every state of our life, we breath. In fact we don’t breath, it happens by naturally. We don’t require to breath because there will be problem for us to be alive, we might forget to breath then we will die suddenly. That is why nature has taken this job own self.
We can not be alive even for a single moment without breath. Breath and our life are interrelated. In Sanskrit language, for both word “Breath” and the “Life energy” has the same word “Prana”, from the word “Prana” came the word “Pranayama” one of the important limb of Astanga Yoga. Pranayama means the systemization of breath. So breath is life and life is breath.
Without the practice of Pranayama, Yoga will be incomplete. By practicing Pranayama, one can achieve better health, one can live longer life, and one will be more strong and vital.
Pranayama is one of the important limbs of Yoga. Yoga is incomplete without the practice of Pranayama. Pranayama is the science of Breathing. “Prana” means breath, ‘Prana” has another meaning too “life force or vital energy”. Pranayama is the technique to systemize breath. By practicing one can achieve better health, one can live a longer life, and one can become physically strong and more vital.
But Tantra treat breathing in different way. Tantra is not a systemization of Breath. Tantra is the technique to move inward by using breathing. In Tantra one should not practice to systemize a breath and any other kind of particular rhythm of breathing. In Tantra, one has to be aware of certain points of the breathing. We are not aware of the breathing, and we are not aware that there is certain point on the breathing.
But in Tantra, one should not practice to systemize breath or any other particular system of breathing. Breathing is allowed to function naturally, just one should be aware of certain point of breathing. On the process of breathing there are certain points about which we are not aware of. Our first work when we appear to this world is breathing and our last work when we die is breathing. From birth to death, for our whole life we go on breathing, without breathing we can not be alive.
It is very wonderful fact that we give more attention and whole effort to the things which is not necessary for our life, without which we can live well.Such as Money, we can be alive without money, all the animals and all the beings of the world are alive without money- once human did not have money but were alive. But now, our whole life goes on earning money and other things without which we will not die. But we are not aware at all about the breathing without which we can not alive even for 5 seconds. We have gone to the moon, we have known all about the mars, we have entered into the space, we have know the very difficult things but we have not known about the breathing which is the very nearest of us.
That is why Dhyana (Meditation) is needed. Dhyana is the tool to create distance between us and breathing. In Tantra, Sadhaka practice meditation to create distance between breathing and himself and aware about the certain point of breathing."
It often happens that we can not see the things which is very near to us , we are not aware of the things which are very near to us, we can not know the things which are very easy and simple to know. We are in habit of trying to know very difficult things, things which are very far such as mars, moon, space and universe. We can not read the book if it is placed attached to our eyes, we only can read the book if there are certain space between the book and our eyes. Without the space we can not read the book. Just like this we can not be aware about the breathing if there is no space between us and breathing. That is why Dhyana (Meditation) is needed.
